ROLE SUMMARY:

Chepstow House School is an established 3-form entry, Coed Prep with a nursery attached and outstanding facilities within the Notting Hill Gate area. It is a growing school offering opportunities for staff development and career progression.

Chepstow House School is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced musician and teacher of singing to join the school from September 2025. Teaching is likely to be timetabled over two days per week during the school term and will involve providing individual music lessons to pupils.

The successful applicant will bequalified to teach and motivate pupils of all levels. This is an opportunity to be part of a busy and vibrant Music Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Providing proper supervision of pupils during lesson times as appropriate whilst on the School’s premises and ensuring that pupils comply with the School’s reasonable standards of conduct and behaviour
  • Recording and maintaining a register.
  • Providing the parents with regular feedback on the progress of pupils.
  • Observing such reasonable and lawful policies and procedures as shall be notified to them by the School.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Ability to motivate and inspire pupils across the age and ability range
  • Ability to relate well to young people
  • Ability to build pupils’ musicianship, technique and confidence
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • An accomplished musician and performer with relevant qualifications and/or professional experience
  • Experience of teaching instrumental music lessons to Prep School age pupils
  • Experience of preparing and entering pupils for ABRSM / Trinity/ RSL and/or other music examining boards.
  • Experience of leading a choir would be highly desirable.
