ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking a visiting music teacher (VMT) to teach singing starting September 2024. The role involves teaching one day per week during the school term, providing individual lessons, encouraging performances, and supporting ensemble participation.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to motivate pupils of all levels and contribute to a vibrant music department, which collaborates with the drama department for extracurricular activities. All staff share responsibility for safeguarding pupils' welfare in accordance with school policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervising pupils during lessons and ensuring proper conduct and behavior.
2. Maintaining a register using SOCS.
3. Providing annual written reports on pupil progress to parents.
4. Following school policies and procedures.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Person Specification

• Ability to motivate and inspire pupils across all abilities.
• Good rapport with young people.
• Ability to develop pupils’ musicianship, technique, and confidence.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Qualifications and/or professional experience as an accomplished singer.
• Experience teaching instrumental lessons to prep school pupils.
• Knowledge of ABRSM and other examining boards.
