Job description

About The Role

Our Singing for the Brain sessions offer people affected by dementia a chance to enjoy a fun activity within a supportive environment, and we need your help to make this happen!

Singing for the Brain is a structured group session based on principles of music therapy and singing, designed for people with dementia, who may attend alone or with a carer. These uplifting sessions provide an enjoyable activity and the opportunity to socialise with others affected by dementia.

As a Singing for the Brain Support Volunteer, you will welcome and converse with people with dementia to help them feel at ease. During the session, you'll encourage participation and support the session facilitator with activities, either online or in person.

You’ll be great for the role if:

  • You have an interest in developing meaningful relationships and making a real difference.
  • You want to enable people with dementia to find their voice through music in a rewarding role.
  • You are fun and enthusiastic.
  • You have the ability to listen and show compassion.
  • If supporting virtual sessions, you should be comfortable navigating online platforms and using Zoom confidently.
  • Experience of dementia or singing is not required!

Additional Role Details

Location: All Saints Church, Weston, Bath, BA1 4BT

Volunteering Hours: 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, 2:00 PM to 4:15 PM

Key Responsibilities include:
