Job summary

Red Bull Powertrains offers multiple year-long placements within Engineering Tools & Methods. You will work in state-of-the-art Technical and Manufacturing facilities, supporting engineering performance across departments and developing best practices for efficient workflows.

Ideal candidates are undergraduates with at least one year of study in engineering, mathematics, or physics, familiar with CAD/FEA/CFD, and proficient in Python, C++, and MATLAB.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply mathematical methods
  • Familiar with CAD, FEA and CFD software
  • Experience with Python, C++, MATLAB or similar languages
  • Familiar with Linux and command-line interfaces
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to break complex problems into fundamental principles
  • Demonstrated passion for engineering through projects or placements

Responsibilities

  • Develop pre- and post-processing software tools for simulation teams
  • Create workflows to run FEA/CFD simulations efficiently
  • Collaborate with simulation engineers to deliver results and automate reports
  • Explore workflows for new simulation techniques including AI and improved physics models
  • Maintain clean codebase with CI/CD pipelines
  • Collaborate with technical teams to deliver engineering solutions
  • Gain exposure to the 2027 Formula 1 season and contribute to Red Bull Powertrains' future

Red Bull Powertrains are offering multiple year-long placement opportunities within our Engineering Tools & Methods. In these hands-on roles you will be emersed into the heart of our state-of-the-art Technical and Manufacturing facilities where we drive engineering and innovation to the limit to develop cutting-edge Formula 1 power units. Pushing boundaries is in our DNA!

The Engineering Tools & Methods team plays a crucial role in driving engineering performance at Red Bull Powertrains. By supporting all technical and manufacturing departments, they develop and implement best practices that streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance collaboration. This team is fundamental to ensuring we operate at the highest level, supporting our mission to be the best team on the grid.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop pre- and post-processing software tools used within the simulation teams.
  • Develop process workflows to ensure FEA and CFD simulations run efficiently and consistently.
  • Work closely with simulation engineers to deliver accurate results, report automation, and job monitoring.
  • Investigate and deliver workflows for new simulation techniques, including AI and improved physics models.
  • Maintain a clean code base including standard branching strategies and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborating closely with all the technical teams to deliver world-class engineering solutions
  • Gaining direct exposure to the 2027 Formula 1 season and contributing to the future of Red Bull Powertrains

Expected knowledge, experience & attributes of the successful candidates:

  • Knowledge and experience from at least one year of undergraduate study on either an engineering, mathematics or physics degree course
  • A solid understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply mathematical methods to solve real-world problems
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as CAD, FEA, CFD
  • Experience with Python, C++, MATLAB of other similar programming languages
  • Familiar using Linux and command line applications
  • Ability to follow best practice and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a team environment
  • Ability to break complex technical problems down to fundamental principles and understand the contributing physics
  • Ability to demonstrate a genuine passion for engineering through involvement in extra-curricular projects, previous placements, or work experience
