Job description

At Red Bull Racing & Technology, we don’t just compete—we innovate, disrupt, and push beyond the limits of performance. We are driven by relentless ambition, cutting-edge technology, and the determination to win at every level. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, and we thrive on trust, creativity, and bold ideas. We celebrate wins as a team, big or small, because success is always a shared achievement.

We are seeking a recently graduated, highly skilled and motivated Simulation and Modelling Engineer to join our Vehicle Performance department. This role is central to the development and deployment of high-quality models and simulations of the full F1 vehicle and its subsystems, contributing directly to the team's on-track performance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating accurate and robust models used across our simulation toolchain — including offline analysis, driver-in-the-loop (DIL) simulators, and real-time track support systems. This includes developing and implementing algorithms and optimisation techniques to enable efficient exploration of vehicle behaviours, as well as rigorous correlation of model predictions to track data.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain physics-based and data-driven models of the vehicle subsystems (e.g. tyres, suspension, powertrain, aero, brakes, steering).
  • Implement these models within the team’s simulation architecture for use in offline optimisation, driver-in-the-loop and real-time track analysis applications.
  • Create robust simulation algorithms and numerical methods to ensure fast, stable, and accurate model performance.
  • Design and apply optimisation routines to provide insights into car setup, development direction, and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with performance engineers, controls engineers, and simulator development teams to ensure models meet the demands of various users.
  • Carry out model validation and correlation exercises using telemetry and test data from track and rig sessions.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategy of simulation fidelity and modularity across the vehicle model stack.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Key requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and multi-body system modelling.
  • Proficient in numerical methods, simulation techniques, and optimisation algorithms.
  • Experience with one or more modelling tools/languages: MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Ability to design, implement, and validate complex engineering models.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams.

Desirable:

  • Experience in motorsport or automotive performance simulation.
  • Familiarity with race car telemetry data and data acquisition systems.
  • Understanding of real-time systems and driver-in-the-loop (DIL) simulation environments.
  • Exposure to machine learning or surrogate modelling for simulation acceleration.

Benefits:

  • Generous bonus schemes
  • Private healthcare
  • Free onsite gym, including gym classes
  • Sports centre (Including a Padel Court, Golf Simulator & much more)
  • Free daily food allowance and barista style coffee
  • Ford car scheme
  • EV Charging points
  • A number of local and partner discounts

At Red Bull Racing & Technology, we push the limits, fight for every victory, and get things done with relentless focus. Joining us means being part of a high-performance team that thrives on collaboration, trust, and ambition. We celebrate wins, learn from challenges, and take our work
