Description: HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology is a sustainable solution for energy transfer over long distances, connecting electricity networks with minimal losses and alleviating power quality issues. It is essential for offshore wind power and underwater transmissions.

As a control & protection software design engineer at Hitachi Energy, you will work on automation systems and digital real-time control of plants and transmissions. We are seeking both recent graduates and experienced engineers to join our team.

This position is based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with options for remote work.

Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in all phases of project delivery: design, maintenance, testing, integration, verification, and deployment of HVDC control & protection functions.
  2. Conduct simulation studies.
  3. Create documentation and conduct customer training.
  4. Travel internationally for short and long-term assignments.
  5. Uphold Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity.
  6. Plan and organize daily work, take responsibility, and proactively solve challenges.
Qualifications / Background:
  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  2. Experience with Control & Protection Design.
  3. Experience in control system design and testing.
  4. Interest or skills in industrial application development and programming.
  5. Proficiency in EMTDC/PSCAD.
  6. Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  7. Knowledge of digital technology, signal processing, and control system design is advantageous.
  8. Experience in the power system industry, including control, protection, automation, simulation, and modeling, is beneficial.
