The role of a Silicon Alliances Ecosystem Development Manager at Canonical

Ubuntu is the fastest growing enterprise Linux, leading platform for cloud computing, and a favorite among engineers.

Our goal is to help enterprises adopt open source across all compute classes and applications, from the Linux kernel to infrastructure solutions like OpenStack and Kubernetes, up to data, security, analytics, and serverless.

The Silicon Alliances Team collaborates with semiconductor companies to optimize open source adoption, develop joint product roadmaps, drive delivery, and create go-to-market strategies, enabling hardware differentiation and robust lifecycle support while maintaining Ubuntu's excellence. The aim is a seamless experience across hardware from cloud to edge.

The ideal candidate is passionate about hardware and software, with an interest in business development. We hire for roles from early career to senior, managing partnerships of varying scope.

Location: Remote roles in Americas; EMEA applicants considered if they can adjust schedules for Americas partners. Travel to sprints, events, and meetings is required.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Represent Canonical and its solutions to partners.
  • Understand silicon partner strategies and identify overlaps with Canonical’s products.
  • Work with engineering, product, marketing, and sales teams to facilitate new business and define joint solutions.
  • Create and track project plans.
  • Develop joint go-to-market strategies and manage campaigns.
  • Negotiate contracts.

Qualifications:

  • B.A / B.S / B.E in science, technology, or engineering.
  • Understanding of the semiconductor industry and ecosystem.
  • Experience in software/system architecture preferred.
  • Customer-facing experience in business development or strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work strategically and tactically.
  • Self-motivated for remote work.

Additional skills:

  • Experience with open source software and business models.
  • Team leadership or program management experience.
