Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Birmingham is seeking a Design Engineer- Signalling to carry out signalling detail design and checks across the rail network, under senior engineers. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to deliver compliant solutions.

Engineering degree required; knowledge of Scheme Plans, LAP, Specifications, SSI Wiring; IRSE Designer/Verifier licences advantageous. This is a contract role with extension potential and a collaborative Rail Infrastructure team.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent (HND/HNC) required.
  • IRSE Signalling Designer Licence or Verifier licence advantageous.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Scheme Plans, LAP, Specifications, SSI Wiring, Fringe Designs.
  • Westlock data and control table design experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design production/checking of signalling detail design as per standards and Signalling Design Specifications.
  • Perform complex railway signal design tasks to relevant standards, codes and practices.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimum outcomes.
  • Provide functional support and guidance to junior Design staff for Signalling Design.
  • Assist in the risk assessment of planned and completed designs.
