Siemens S7 PLC Engineer (Ad-Hoc Support)

Job Type: Contract

Work period: Ad-hoc + Scheduled Support

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Siemens S7 PLC Engineer to support a leading energy sector site in Manchester, specializing in intelligent automation and PLC systems. This role will be required on an ad-hoc (short notice) and for support on planned scopes, so would suit candidate based locally, who is looking for part-time/ad-hoc work around other commitments.

Role Overview

  • Automation Solutions: Develop and modifying control logic to automate site production process, troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance including base layer control loop tuning.
  • Ad-hoc Support: Respond promptly to unplanned activities and system issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with site teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations and changes.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Siemens S7: Proficient in Siemens S7 PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Seamless integration of PLC systems with other automation components, such as Human-Machine Interfaces, sensors, and actuators.
  • Support PLC system integration, upgrades (obsolescence-software/hardware) and commissioning & start up activities.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field .
  • Extensive experience working with Siemens S7 (S7-3000 and S7-1500), TIA Porta, Step 7 and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols (Profinet, Profibus).
