Job summary

Randstad CPE seeks an experienced Shuttering Carpenter for a busy site at Tilbury Docks, Essex. The role involves constructing and dismantling formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns and beams, with immediate start.

• 3–5 years of proven shuttering carpentry on UK commercial or infrastructure sites.
• Ability to read complex structural drawings and blueprints.
• Own a full set of hand/power tools and PPE.
• Valid CSCS Skilled Worker Card (Formwork/Shuttering Carpentry preferred).
• Maintain high physical fitness for heavy outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret and work accurately from structural drawings and blueprints.
• Measure, cut, assemble and secure formwork for concrete pours (columns, slabs, walls and beams).
• Ensure shuttering is level, aligned, reinforced and capable of withstanding wet concrete.
• Safely dismantle formwork after concrete cures.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow site health and safety procedures.

About the Role: We are currently seeking experienced and reliable Shuttering Carpenters to join a busy construction site located at Tilbury Docks, Essex. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling temporary wooden, steel, or plastic formwork/molds for wet concrete to form foundations, walls, columns, staircases, and beams.

Job Title: Shuttering Carpenter / Formwork Carpenter
Location: Tilbury Docks, Essex
Employment Type: Temporary / Contract (CIS)
Pay Rate: £25.00 - £28.00 per hour
Day Rate Equivalent: £240 - £250 per day
Start Date: Immediate / Next Week

Key Responsibilities:

• Read, interpret, and work accurately from complex structural drawings and blueprints.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and secure timber, plywood, and steel formwork for concrete pours (columns, slabs, walls, and beams).
• Ensure all shuttering is level, aligned, fully reinforced, and capable of holding wet concrete.
• Safely dismantle (strip) formwork once the concrete has fully cured.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering strictly to site health and safety procedures.
• Key Requirements:
• Valid Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card (Formwork / Shuttering Carpentry preferred).
• Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as a Shuttering Carpenter on UK commercial or infrastructure sites.
• Own full set of hand/power tools and standard PPE.
• High level of physical fitness suitable for heavy manual labor outdoors.
• Strong communication skills, punctuality, and reliability.
