Job summary

Sharpak Aylesham Ltd in Aylesham, Kent is seeking a reliable Shunter to join our manufacturing site. This full-time role offers progression into a Shunter position, with rotating early and late shifts and a focus on safe, efficient movement of trailers and stock within the warehouse.

You will operate counterbalance and reach trucks, perform stock movements, and ensure paperwork aligns with goods. A Class 1 licence is desirable, and applicants must comply with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Locate stock receipts in the warehouse with accurate paperwork.
• Pick goods from stock as directed by team leaders/managers.
• Operate MHE (Counterbalance, Pivot, Reach, pallet trucks) to move pallets as needed.
• Inspect trailers before loading to ensure cleanliness and hygiene.
• Ensure goods are loaded/unloaded correctly and undamaged.
• Carry out stock movements per company procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in the warehouse.

We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Shunter with warehouse experience who is looking to develop into a Shunter role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn new skills and undertake further training and development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsibilityfor location of stock receipts into the warehouse after ensuring that the paperworkand goods are correct, raising anydiscrepanciesto the Team LeadersandManagers.
• Responsibilityfor picking goods from stock as and whenrequiredas directed by theTeam LeadersorManagers.
• Operation of mechanical handling equipment (Counterbalance, Pivot,Reach and Pedestrian pallet trucks) to move palletsaround the warehousetomeet business needs.
• Inspection of the trailerprior to loading goods,to ensure that the vehicle adheres to cleanliness and hygiene standards to transport goods and to sign load sheet to confirm vehicle and goods have been checked.
• To ensure that goods are loaded and unloaded as directed by the Team LeaderorManagerensuring that goods are correct and not damaged.
• To perform stock movements asrequiredin accordance withthe Company’s procedures.
• To ensure thathigh standardsof housekeeping aremaintainedthroughout the Warehouse and damaged products are brought to the attention of theTeam Leader orManager.
• Full adherence to health and safety policy and proceduresat all times,reporting any broken,defectiveor faulty equipment to a manager to ensure the safety of all staff.
• Any other such taskdeemedreasonable by the line manager andcommensuratewith the post.

Required Skills

• Previous experience in warehouse operations, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in shunting operations.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a warehouse setting.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

Desired Skills

• Class 1 Driving Licence.
• Adherence to all UK road traffic laws and regulations, always ensuring safe and compliant driving.
• Experience completing vehicle inspections and maintaining defect books at the start of each shift, reporting any issues promptly to the appropriate persons.
• Ability to move loaded and unloaded trailers safely and efficiently to meet business requirements.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Flexible approach to working hours and operational demands

Hours of Work: Rotating shifts of 06:00am to 14:00pm and 14:00pm to 22:00pm. The successful candidate must be able to work both shift patterns on a rotational basis.
