Purpose

To move trailers safely around the yard and to the required destinations. You will also maintain and repair to a measured quality standard, the Heavy Goods trailers of the TIP rental fleet, and its customers' own trailers at TIP workshops.

Shunter & Yard Operative

Location: Grays, Essex

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

Salary: Competitive

Purpose

To move trailers safely around the yard and to the required destinations. You will also maintain and repair to a measured quality standard, the Heavy Goods trailers of the TIP rental fleet, and its customers' own trailers at TIP workshops.

Responsibilities:

• Presentation of TIP assets for MOT testing to an onsite ATF lane (off-site)
• Voluntary brake testing
• Loading of weight for mot preparation
• Yard shunting and workshop shunting
• Liaising with DVSA personnel and third parties on the ATF lane
• Forklift duties
• Telehandler duties
• General yard duties, including cleaning, painting and general repairs
• Assistance with small trailer repairs
• Cleaning of trailers
• MOT Steam cleaning
• Ensure all compliance details are completed in an accurate and timely manner
• Ensure all company vehicles are driven and operated at all times in accordance with road traffic law and company policy
• Undertake all required training as deemed necessary by the company
• Provide a high customer service level & demonstrate company values at all times
• Highlight all potential business commercial opportunities to managers
• The role will involve possible shift working, including weekends.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• HGV class 1 licence
• Forklift licence desirable
• High level of enthusiasm & good communication skills
• Basic knowledge of computers and ability to complete relevant written documentation
• Have a customer and team centric mindset and high level of professionalism
• Good organisational skills and ability to be able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
