Job summary

MillerKnoll in Melksham is seeking a Shunter to join the Logistics team. This role involves directing incoming equipment and vehicles to loading bays, coordinating with warehouse and planning staff to ensure smooth flow, and maintaining a safe, organized yard.

You will work a minimum 40-hour week, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work, on a rotating shift pattern between 05:30-14:00 or 14:00-22:30, as required by the business.

Qualifications

• C+E licence or Yard Shunting Qualification is essential.
• Calm under pressure and able to handle changing priorities.
• Familiarity with using computers in a logistics setting.
• Digital tachograph card is desirable.
• Driver qualification card (CPC) is desirable.
• Maximum 6 points on licence for minor offences.
• Knowledge of drivers’ hours and the working time directive is a plus.
• Drawbar experience is preferred but not essential.
• Good geographical knowledge is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Direct incoming equipment and vehicles to correct loading/parking bays.
• Liaise with warehouse and planning staff to maintain flow and notify transport supervisor of shortages.
• Ensure trailers are legally compliant and positioned safely on bays.
• Follow VOR process and coordinate with transport supervisor.
• Assist with yard/trailer queries and maintain health and safety standards.
• Carry out additional operational duties as required.

Job summary

Minimum 40- hour week

Some weekend work required

Rotating Shift Pattern – between 0530hrs & 1400hrs/1400hrs & 2230hrs – or as the business requires

Specific responsibilities

• Directing incoming equipment and vehicles to correct loading/parking bays.
• Liaising with warehouse and planning personnel to ensure correct equipment is positioned on bays, ensuring a flow is maintained, informing the transport supervisor when equipment shortage will affect loading.
• Ensuring trailers are legally compliant, positioning equipment on and off bays as required to ensure the yard is in a safe and organised condition.
• Follow correct VOR process, liaising with the transport supervisor.
• Assisting with any yard/trailer related queries.
• Follow site and business Health and Safety systems of work.
• Carry out additional operational duties as required.
