Job summary

Sue Ryder in Needham Market is seeking a Shop Supervisor to support the Shop Manager and lead a team of volunteers, driving sales while upholding Sue Ryder's values.

You will deliver excellent customer service, handle cash and stock processes, and ensure a tidy, inviting shop with effective merchandising.

This part-time role is 5.5 hours per week on Sundays plus additional weekday cover, with a £12.79 hourly rate and a strong commitment to community fundraising.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Cash handling or till experience preferred.
• Basic IT skills (emails/instant messaging/video calls).
• Organisational skills and ability to work with volunteers.
• Comfort with lone working.
• Health and safety knowledge beneficial.
• Experience with merchandising and stock rotation.

Responsibilities

• As Shop Supervisor you will drive business, push sales, and achieve targets.
• Lead and support a large team of volunteers under the shop manager.
• Work with the local community to generate donated stock for sale.
• Recruit, train & retain volunteer team and provide leadership.
• Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping with health and safety in focus.
• Manage stock processes to keep the shop well merchandised with seasonal stock.
• Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder and support in-store campaigns.

Shop Supervisor 2 Station Yard, Needham Market, Ipswich IP6 8AS 5.5 hours per week - Sundays plus weekday cover £12.79 per hour Be there when it matters.

Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK with over 400 shops. Every item sold in our shops generates funding so we can continue to provide 2.7 million hours of expert medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support every year, in our hospices, in people's homes and in the community. We are here to make sure that everyone approaching the end of life or living with grief can access the support they need. We have a much-loved presence on high streets across the country - with a range of innovative shops, including boutiques, vintage and retro shops, and large format stores.

As a member of the retail team, you'll be helping us inspire communities to provide more care for more people through innovating and collaborating on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. You will also be contributing to drive up the income that generates the vital funds necessary to keep our care and support services running.

In retail most work every weekend, our managers mainly work only 1 in 2. We don't expect our teams to work past 5.15 in most of our shops. The earliest we start is 8.45am. We have every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day off.

Having been in Needham Market for more than 20 years, our established charity shop has a fabulous range of clothing and homeware.

Do you have retail experience with excellent customer service skills? Would you love to use your retail knowledge and experience for an important cause? If so come, assist, and support our Shop Manager to run our Needham Market shop and contribute to the work we do across Sue Ryder!

As our new Shop Supervisor, you will have retail experience with the commercial awareness to deliver sales. You'll have a positive attitude and good judgement to do the right thing. You will have proven team leadership skills and the ability to help lead a large team of volunteers. It is essential is that you enjoy engaging with people, you have a positive can-do attitude and a good understanding of financial and IT administration.

• As Shop Supervisor you will be using your skills and retail experience to help drive business, push sales, and achieve targets.
• Help to lead a team to deliver great customer service to our donors and customers.
• Work with the local community to generate sufficient donated stock to drive sales.
• Help to recruit, train & retain a volunteer team, who'll look to you and the shop manager for leadership and guidance.
• Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, ensuring you and your teams health and safety is a priority.
• Help to manage effective stock processes to ensure your shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock at all times.
• Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in store campaigns to promote the brand and national fundraising initiatives.
• Help to manage an effective stock process through the Epos operation.
