Job Role – Shop Floor Assistant

Location – Brentry, BS10

Working Hours – Monday to Friday, 8-4pm (flexible with working hours)

Pay Rate – £12.21

Job Type – Temp to perm

Gap Personnel in Bristol are partnering with a large wholesale supplier currently recruiting for 3 Shop Floor Assistants in Brentry, BS10.

The role involves working in a wholesale trade cash and carry, within sections such as Seasonal, Tools, Timber & Building, or Housewares. Responsibilities include merchandising products, handling customer inquiries via phone, and guiding customers to the correct sections. Candidates should be able to work independently, possess good communication skills, and maintain high standards of discipline, punctuality, and professionalism.

The role includes:

  1. Loading procedures at checkouts, pack sizes, and order picking when required.
  2. Restocking shelves with daily deliveries, correctly stacking excess stock on the second level, and palletising surplus stock safely.
  3. Completing and storing pallet notes accurately and safely.
  4. Understanding stock rotation, including production and expiry dates, and managing packaging.
  5. Maintaining a clean and tidy work area to ensure smooth customer flow, especially before shifts end.
  6. Having good product and supplier knowledge, and knowing stock locations.
  7. Following the daily rota and achieving high-quality, high-quantity work.
  8. Assisting customers by directing them to the correct items, sections, or staff members.
  9. Prioritising customer queries and needs with professionalism and respect.
  10. Handling customer inquiries via telephone and messages appropriately.
  11. Resolving customer issues confidently and accurately, including order picking.

The right candidate should:

  1. Communicate effectively with Senior Assistants and Section Managers.
  2. Maintain good working relations with colleagues and work as part of a team.
  3. Show high standards of attendance and punctuality.
  4. Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines when using equipment such as ladders, knives, forklift trucks, etc., and follow security and fire procedures. Report all accidents promptly.
  5. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
  6. Possess good computer skills, including using EVO and WEB systems.
