Duke's in Plymouth, MI, is looking for an entry-level Shop Assistant to join the team!

Are you mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and enjoy working in a hands-on environment with tools, equipment, and trucks? Join our team and be part of a company that supports critical underground infrastructure across the nation.

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to our Fleet Manager, you’ll support and learn from our fleet and mechanic team by:

• Keeping the shop clean, safe, and organized
• Pulling materials and parts for field crews
• Driving a company vehicle to run shop-related errands such as picking up parts and supplies, and perform local/regional pick-up and delivery of vehicles, material, parts and equipment
• Cleaning and prepping vehicles and equipment
• Assisting with shipping, receiving, and inventory
• Supporting and assisting mechanics and managers with daily tasks

• Safety-first mindset and commitment to personal protective equipment (PPE) use
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Are willing to undergo a background check, MVR check, pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical
• Are at least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (chauffeur’s license preferred or willingness to obtain within 30 days required)
• Basic computer and mobile device skills (or willingness to learn)
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Self-motivated
• Enjoy working with others
• Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends
• Can travel if needed (only up to 5-10% of the time)
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day
• Are able to climb ladders, bend, stand, and stretch for extended periods of time
• General knowledge of construction and shop warehouse safety preferred
