Job summary

Sue Ryder Bramley shop is recruiting a Shop Assistant to join the retail team in Bramley Shopping Centre. This fixed-term contract for 15 hours per week on a weekend rota offers a friendly environment and the chance to support fundraising and community care.

You will help with stock, assist customers, handle cash, and maintain shop standards while prioritizing safety. Previous customer service and IT basics preferred; training provided.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is essential.
• Cash handling and till experience required.
• Basic IT skills including emails and messaging.
• Strong organisational abilities are needed.
• Ability to work effectively on your own.

Responsibilities

• Help maximise donated income through proactive stock generation and stock planning.
• Set high merchandising and housekeeping standards with safety in mind.
• Manage stock processes to keep the shop well merchandised with fresh stock.
• Act as a Sue Ryder brand ambassador during in-store campaigns.

You will also be contributing to drive up the income that generates the vital funds necessary to keep our care and support services running. In retail most work every weekend, our managers mainly work only 1 in 2. We don't expect our teams to work past 5.15 in most of our shops. The earliest we start is 8.45am. We have every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day off. Located in the middle of the busy Bramley Shopping Centre, we stock new goods, fashion, books, CDs and DVDs. About you Do you have excellent customer service skills? Are you comfortable working in a busy fast paced environment? If so come and support our shop team in our Bramley store and contribute to the work we do across Sue Ryder! As our new Shop Assistant, you will help us to create a well-presented shop where customers get great service. You will sort and size stock and be on hand to help customers with their purchases. Remember that you could often be moving stock – which may involve lifting heavy goods or furniture. Other responsibilities include: • To help maximise donated income through proactive stock generation, optimum pricing, processing stock to agreed levels and stock planning. • Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, ensuring you and your colleagues’ health and safety is a priority. • Manage effective stock processes to ensure your shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock at all times. • Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in store campaigns to promote the brand and national fundraising initiatives.
