Job Description:

Alchemy is excited to partner with a leading gallery based in London to expand their team. The Senior Registrar / Shipping Manager will play a key role in overseeing the scheduling and execution of both domestic and international shipments, ensuring all artworks are delivered safely, professionally, and in compliance with company standards.

What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Obtain shipping quotes from approved shippers for inbound and outbound shipments of artworks.
2. Negotiate bespoke shipping costs for complex shipments and installations.
3. Manage individual shipments, including packing specifications, paperwork preparation, and liaising with relevant regulatory bodies.
4. Source freight quotes and manage bookings for shipments.
5. Monitor the progress of international and domestic outbound shipments, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
6. Ensure compliance with local and international regulations such as Export and CITES licenses.
7. Work closely with the Pre-Sale, Post-Sale, and Art Technician teams to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and timely project delivery.
8. Report escalated issues to the Head of Shipping and keep all stakeholders informed.
9. Maintain detailed records and update shipment status for all involved parties.
10. Ensure that all shipments are completed within agreed timelines.
11. Supervise any customs clearance and documentation processes to ensure smooth delivery.
12. Provide support and guidance to junior staff when needed.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Extensive experience in a registrar or fine art logistics role within a gallery or fine art shipping company.
2. Strong organisational, analytical, managerial, and troubleshooting skills.
3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and written presentation skills.
4. Quick decision-making abilities with a strong focus on company standards and values.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
