A Specialist Allowance of up to 10% per annum is also available for this role, dependent on skills and experience

As part of the Logistics Management Team, this senior role manages the shipping and customs functions, ensuring legal compliance and high standards for STFC's scientific departments, project managers, and collaborators.

The post holder will oversee courier contracts, freight management, and all shipping and customs formalities, providing expertise to adapt to changing requirements to support STFC's scientific programs and develop commercial arrangements.

The role involves:

• Building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders within STFC and UKRI, as well as external bodies, particularly concerning the safe shipping/receiving of dangerous goods, to uphold and improve standards and practices.
• Providing deputising support for the Senior Shipping Manager and supervising the team when necessary.
• Staying updated with new legislation and best practices in shipping.
• Managing technical details related to UK and international transportation, customs regulations, documentation, and troubleshooting issues.
• Coordinating with the Logistics Supervisor to ensure effective communication and movement of goods.
• Ensuring compliance with SHE codes and industry standards in daily operations.
