Job description

Are you experienced in Import Export and looking for a new and exciting challenge? Do you want to join a globally successful firm as they continue to expand?

My client, a global freight company based in Liverpool, has an exciting opportunity for a strong and highly organized Shipping Clerk to join their busy team.

You will ensure the movement of goods by air, road, and sea through international borders is carried out safely and securely, both on import into the UK and to export markets, whilst adhering to customs regulations.

Duties of Shipping Clerk
  1. Prepare documentation for Import Customs clearance dealing with UK Border enforcement agencies such as Port, Health, and HMRC.
  2. Arrange UK transport deliveries, warehousing, and deal with shipping lines and other parties related to shipping and movement of all cargos.
  3. Communicate & coordinate with internal and external partners e.g. Hauliers, Customs Authorities, Freight Partners, Supply Chain Teams, and warehouses.
  4. Weekly & Monthly Forecast, cost allocation & reporting.
  5. Dealing with new customers including documentation requirements.
  6. Process and monitor export and import clearances.
Skills and Experience
  1. Minimum 1 year experience in the shipping industry either with a shipping line or freight forwarder.
  2. Being able to prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency.
  3. Proactive approach.
  4. Good attention to detail.
  5. Excellent time management.
  6. Good IT skills and confidence in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  7. Highly organized.
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Strong communication skills.
  10. Team skills.
  11. Flexibility.
