Job description

We are delighted to be working with this expanding local business, which is looking to recruit a Shipping & Logistics Coordinator to the team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position involves close collaboration with the Operations Team, Traders, and other support functions.

The Role:
  1. Plan the loading and shipment of traded products from source to destination in line with sale terms. Responsibilities may vary throughout the year due to volume and seasonality.
  2. Coordinate with internal teams and external parties to ensure efficient and timely shipments according to contractual terms.
  3. Participate in the Container Risk Working Group to manage and minimize risks in container trade.
  4. Handle container claims with shipping lines and cargo insurers as needed.
  5. Maximize margins on shipments and ensure high customer and supplier satisfaction.
  6. Provide accurate and timely forecasting for stakeholders.
  7. Ensure container loadings are timely and in line with sale agreements.
  8. Collaborate on project work with the Container Operations Manager.
  9. Monitor shipment issues until container collection and return.
  10. Maintain communication with trading partners and provide planning information.
  11. Coordinate logistics with support functions and traders.
  12. Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve service levels.
  13. Work with inspection agencies to meet destination market requirements.
  14. Help meet department KPIs in collaboration with the Container Operations team.
  15. Integrate SAP systems into container operations and improve reporting and controls.
  16. Perform additional roles as needed to maintain department efficiency.

  • Knowledge of shipping documentation such as Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin/Health, VGM, etc.
