Randstad CPE has an initial temporary Container Shipping Controller role at Tata Steel UK's Llanwern works in Newport, Wales. The job focuses on coordinating container shipping across international lanes with a strong IT and communication emphasis.

The position is hybrid (2–3 days in the office, currently Mondays and Fridays), 36.5 hours per week, paying £17.45 per hour (£33,120 per annum) for an initial 6-month contract likely to extend or go permanent.

Qualifikationen

• Previous experience in an office-based administrative role, ideally within Logistics or Distribution.
• Strong IT literacy, especially MS Office.
• Driving Licence and access to own vehicle.
• High level of attention to detail, especially with numerical data.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Good UK Health and Safety knowledge.

• Liaising with customer service teams regarding delivery plans and production scheduling.
• Obtaining, reviewing, and agreeing on rates for trade lanes from shipping lines.
• Providing quotations to internal business units.
• Informing container stuffing depots of spikes in requirements to ensure materials are ready.
• Evaluating melt and pour status for country of origin prior to booking orders.
• Maximising road and rail loads out of the business units into the stuffing depots.
• Arranging inbound movements accordingly.
• Contacting shipping lines to make bookings on material delivery.
• Managing customs clearance for goods leaving the UK.
• Ensuring paperwork and destination country imports certs are accurate.
• Inputting SOLAS VGM data into the shipping line database.

We have an initially temporary Container Shipping Controller role available within Tata Steel UK's Llanwern works.

The department specialises in managing container shipping solutions for downstream business units, ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient international transport of premium products.

This role is ideal for someone with strong IT literacy skills and is proactive, a clear communicator and holds exceptional attention to detail.

Role : Container Shipping Controller Location : TATA Steel, Llanwern, Newport, Wales, NP19 4QZ (Hybrid: 2-3 days in the office, currently Mondays and Fridays) Rate : £17.45 per hour (equivalent to £33,120 per annum) Contract length: 6 months (Likely to be extended or go permanent) Shift Patterns: Monday-Friday,
36.5 hours per week.

Flexible start/finish (07:30-08:30 start to 15:45-16:45 finish; finish an hour earlier on Fridays) Start: ASAP (within 1-2 weeks) pending the successful completion of a medical, which does require a Drug and Alcohol assessment

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience within an office based administrative role, ideally within the Logistics or Distribution sector
• Strong IT literacy, especially MS office
• Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (due to the nature of the works) although cyclists can be accommodated
• High level of attention to detail, especially when handling numerical data
• Problem-solving ability and basic inventory management skills
• Good verbal and written communication skill
• Previous experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders of all level
• The ability to work alone but also as part of a team when required
• Good level of UK Health and Safety knowledge
