We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Ship's Gear Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating shipboard cranes and related cargo-handling equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely loading and discharging of vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate ship's cranes, derricks, and other lifting equipment in compliance with company and port regulations.
  • Safely load, unload, and stow cargo in accordance with cargo plans and instructions.
  • Inspect and maintain gear, slings, and lifting equipment to ensure safety and readiness.
  • Communicate effectively with stevedores, deck crew, and supervisors to coordinate cargo operations.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols at all times.
  • Assist in reporting equipment faults or damage to the relevant department.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Ship's Gear Operator or in a similar cargo-handling role.
  • Valid certification or license to operate shipboard lifting gear (where required).
  • Strong knowledge of cargo-handling procedures, lifting equipment, and safety practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and irregular hours as required by vessel schedules.
