Job summary

Skanska UK Plc is seeking a Shift Technician for the building services team at Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge. This role involves undertaking maintenance, testing, and repairs on a variety of hospital systems and equipment. Qualifications

  • Competent Person certification for Low Voltage Systems is essential.

Job description

We are looking for a Shift Technician to join our building services team at Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge.

Working as a Shift Technician, you will undertake planned preventative maintenance, testing, repairs, and new installation work covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems, and buildings associated with the running of a large hospital.

What you'll do:

  • Comply with all Health, statutory, and Technical regulatory Memorandums requirements, including Health Building and Safety Notifications legislation (HBN), regulations for SFS, and HTM standards.
  • Work safely with health ELV/LV electrical systems and regulations, acting as a Competent Person for LV electrical systems.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining hospital equipment, plant, services, and systems, including inspection and testing of electrical and mechanical equipment and installations (including portable appliances).
  • Work safely on mechanical systems in accordance with all statutory mechanical regulations and health and safety legislation, acting as a Competent Person for SFS on systems such as Boilers & Pressure Systems, Medical Gas, and Confined Spaces.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent.
  • A recognised apprenticeship.
  • Certificate in 17th Edition IEE Regulations (Current).
  • Competent Person certification for Low Voltage Systems, as per the latest Electrical Safety Code.
  • Competent person for other mechanical systems.
