Shift Technician Energy from Waste

Avonmouth

MC Technical Recruitment are working with a leading Energy from Waste business to recruit a Shift Technician for their state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Avonmouth. This role is key to ensuring the plant operates safely, efficiently, and within environmental compliance on a 24-hour rotating shift basis.

You'll work from the central control room and out on the plant, contributing to operations, fault finding, and plant optimisation.

As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Safe operation of the plant during start-up, steady state, and shutdown
  • Monitoring and managing plant performance via DCS/SCADA systems
  • Responding to alarms and carrying out plant/equipment adjustments
  • Performing process and equipment fault diagnosis and basic maintenance
  • Carrying out plant isolations and adhering to safe systems of work
  • Monitoring boiler chemistry and site consumables
  • Maintaining accurate shift logs and ensuring strong shift handovers
  • Supporting site shutdowns and minimising plant downtime
  • Upholding high HSE standards and ensuring permit compliance
  • Committing to continuous personal and professional development
  • Working on a 4 on, 4 off, days & nights, shift rotation
  • Other duties as required

To be considered, you should have:

  • Experience in a mechanical, electrical, or process plant environment
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work, including isolations
  • A safety qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH preferred)
  • Logical thinking and effective problem-solving abilities
  • Computer literacy and willingness to learn control room systems
  • Desire to progress towards Authorised Person status (AP/SAP)
