Satellite Communications Technician

TCS Oakhanger | Permanent, Full-time | 40.75 hours per week (Rostered shift pattern)

At Serco, we are recruiting a Shift Technician to join the Satellite Communications Teams at TCS Oakhanger in Bordon, working on behalf of the US Space Force.

The TCS contract is part of Serco’s Space and Security division. The Technician will configure for real-time support and operate various satellite ground and communication systems. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, system checks, tests, troubleshooting, and rectification. Shift Technicians will follow a rotational shift pattern as part of one of four site shifts.

The role suits individuals with experience in technical roles involving testing and problem resolution across Electronics, Electrical, IT, Mechanical, and RF disciplines. Full training, mentorship, and support will be provided to successful candidates eager to learn new skills and become integral team members.

Main responsibilities:
  1. Reporting to the Operations Manager
  2. Ensuring compliance with Serco’s Management Systems, USSF, and MOD policies/procedures
  3. Configuration and error-free real-time operation of satellite ground and communication systems, routine maintenance, system checks, tests, and fault troubleshooting
  4. Acting as a senior operational person when fully certified, reporting events to the Operations Manager
  5. Engaging in technical discussions with US operations management and Serco management teams
  6. Working 12-hour shifts after initial training and certification
  7. Conducting Document Reviews, Risk Assessments, and General Inspections as required
  8. Overtime/TOIL opportunities upon certification
  9. Training new hires
Requirements:
  1. Ability to achieve and maintain Security Clearance
  2. GCSE Grade C in Maths and English
  3. Electronic Engineering BTEC Level 3 diploma
  4. Complete CompTIA Security+ certification (training provided)
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
