Qualifications

  • Senior Authorised Persons status or experience with High Voltage equipment is advantageous.

Job description

Shift Team Leader - Power Station

Location: West Sussex

Salary: Up to £80,000 + Benefits

Alecto Recruitment is seeking experienced Shift Team Leaders with a background in overseeing shift teams within the Power Generation sector or similar industries for a full-time, permanent position in West Sussex.

Job Brief

You will be responsible for the daily management of the Operations Team and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant. Deputising as Operations Manager, you will make critical decisions safely and professionally, including:

  • Ensuring the plant operates within its parameters while complying with strict HSE regulations, company policies, and procedures
  • Managing safety systems, including permit to work systems, and acting as an Authorised Person for issuing permits, switching, and isolations (preferably with experience up to 33kV)
  • Providing technical supervision and assistance to company and contract staff engaged in work
  • Training and monitoring shift staff to ensure competence, including reviews and personal development plans
  • Participating in outage planning, plant improvement, and optimisation projects
  • Adhering to the Company’s Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems
Requirements
  • Relevant technical qualification, such as HNC or equivalent (MUST)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an operational environment on a power station with supervisory responsibilities
  • Experience in Energy from Waste, Coal, CCGT, Biomass, CHP, or Nuclear power stations
  • Royal Navy Marine Engineers with significant watch-keeping experience (Petty Officers, Chief Petty Officers, Warrant Officers) will also be considered
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification
  • Senior Authorised Persons status or experience with High Voltage equipment is advantageous
  • Proven leadership skills
