Job description

Astute’s Power Team is partnered with one of the leading Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station operators in the UK, with a combined portfolio of 3.3GW, to recruit for a Shift Team Leader to join their CCGT plant in Southwick, West Sussex.

The vital Shift Team Leader role comes with a basic salary range between �57,000 - �62,000 + �12,087 shift allowance + �2,100 south east living allowance + overtime + up to 30% bonus + Private Medical + other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for:

* The day-to-day management of Shift Team who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
* Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
* Managing the site’s safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out isolations.
* Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
* Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.
* Providing effective administration and application of safe systems of work and Health and Safety policies



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

* A minimum HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline – this is a necessity
* A Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be advantageous
* Having HV SAP/AP experience will be advantageous



Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has:

* Prior experience in an operational role within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemicals, Paper Mills, etc
* Senior Royal Navy Marine Engineers with significant watch-keeping experience will also be considered (Petty Officers/Chief Petty Officers/Warrant Officers) – ideally those who has experience with steam generation equipment
* Excellent proven leadership skills
