Job summary

Dornan Engineering Group is seeking a Shift Team Leader to join the Maintance Team in the West Midlands. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will oversee permit-to-work activities, lockouts, and safety procedures for safe plant operation.

You will supervise plant operations via SCADA, coordinate resources, provide technical guidance, and contribute to maintenance planning using the CMMS. A strong safety focus and mentoring of shift staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a shift team in an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work and lockout/tagout safety procedures.
• Ability to operate and monitor plant via SCADA systems.
• Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Environmental Permits at the site.
• Operate/monitor plant from SCADA and run equipment as required.
• Implement emergency procedures calmly under pressure.
• Supervise resources to ensure safe, cost-effective operations.
• Provide technical supervision for staff on site.
• Contribute to maintenance planning using CMMS.
• Train and mentor shift staff to ensure competence.
• Work within SHEQ systems and safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with staff to minimise outage turnaround times.
• Assist with plant improvements and modifications.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the manager.

Shift Team Leader

Dornan Engineering Group is a leading international engineering contractor delivering high-value projects across Europe, UK & Ireland. Based in the West Midlands this is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Maintance Team as a Shift Team Leader

Reporting to the Plant Manager, ensuring management and issuing of all Permit to work activities, including isolating and locking off mechanical and electrical systems to provide safety from the system in line with safety procedures.

As a member of the team, the Shift Team Leader will be an exemplar ambassador for the company and its values; integrity, dependability, safety, pride, quality.

Your day will include:

• Ensure compliance with all aspects of the site Environmental Permits
• Operate / monitor plant from the SCADA system, operate plant and equipment as required by the operational demands of the facility
• Be able to implement emergency procedures and instructions calmly and effectively in pressure situations
• Supervise and deploy resource as appropriate to ensure cost effective, safe and efficient operation of all activities on site within all operational procedures, and also in emergency situations
• Provide technical supervision and assistance where necessary for Company and contract staff engaged in work at the Facility
• Input into the plant maintenance procedures and be fully conversant with the CMMS to help plan future maintenance activities
• Provide effective training and mentoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties
• Provide effective administration and work within the Company Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Systems
• Liaise with other Company staff as required to provide efficient work scheduling and planning to ensure minimum turnaround times during plant outages
• Assist and advise with plant improvements and modifications
• All other reasonable tasks assigned to you from time to time from your manager
