Job summary

Cobra Coffee - Starbucks Franchisee is seeking a shift supervisor in Southampton to lead shifts and coach a team of baristas, delivering the Starbucks Experience to customers with high-quality service and products.

Role involves partnering with the Store Manager, managing priorities, and maintaining standards across operational duties while supporting a positive learning environment for staff. Evening, weekend, and early shift work may apply.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching or supervisory experience in a customer-facing role.
• Experience leading operational activities in a retail or hospitality environment would be beneficial.
• Ability to coach a team and create a positive learning environment on shift.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Store Manager, leading great shifts, supporting partners, and delivering the Starbucks Experience for customers.
• Set priorities and allocate resources to determine roles and delegate tasks, driving store profitability.
• Inspire and motivate the store team to deliver excellent customer service and address issues to optimise the experience.
• Identify teachable moments to share best practices with the team and improve performance.
• Execute store operations during scheduled shifts, including opening and closing duties, and ensure policy compliance.

What to expect

You’ll need previous coaching or supervisory experience in a customer facing role. You’ll spend your time running shifts with our customers at the core, through coaching your team and creating a positive learning environment to your partners on shift. You’ll be solving problems in the moment, so any experience you have in leading operational activities in a retail or hospitality environment would be beneficial.

The best part about this role is that no two days are ever the same. Working in one of our fast-paced stores, a typical day could include:

• Collaborating with the Store Manager, leading great shifts, supporting partners, and inspiring best moments and the Starbucks Experience for our partners and customers
• Setting priorities and resources to determine roles and delegate tasks, looking at ways to drive the profitability of your store
• Inspiring and motivating the store team to make every moment right for our partners and customers, including pre-empting and adapting to any potential issues and addressing/resolving any that arise to optimise the customer experience
• Identifying teachable moments to share best practices with the team
• Executing store operations during scheduled shifts, including organising opening and closing duties
• Ensuring all partners follow Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift
• Providing quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products

Given the nature of our stores, our working hours could include early mornings, evenings, weekends.
