CBSbutler Holdings Limited (trading as CBSbutler) is seeking a Shift Process Engineer for a high-technology semiconductor manufacturing operation in Northamptonshire. The role covers a 24/7 wafer fabrication environment with 12-hour rotating shifts and the opportunity to develop as part of a skilled engineering team.

You will provide first-line process engineering support during shifts, troubleshoot issues, coordinate tool requalifications, and help maintain production flow and quality.

Qualifications

• Evidence of engineering, science, or semiconductor study with analytical skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including out-of-hours shifts.
• Good IT skills and proficient in MS Office.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsabilités

• Act as the first point of contact for wafer fab process issues during shift.
• Investigate and resolve process-related issues to support production.
• Ensure timely release of manufacturing materials and manage process holds.
• Coordinate tool requalification after maintenance.
• Support scrap, deviation, and near-miss investigations.
• Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams.

Shift Process Engineer

Location: Northamptonshire
12-hour rotating shifts | 24/7 manufacturing operation | 35% Shift Uplift + Share Options + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity is available for a Shift Process Engineer to join a high-technology semiconductor manufacturing operation in Northamptonshire.

This is a key role within a busy wafer fabrication environment, providing first-line process engineering support across a 24/7 manufacturing operation. The position would suit an experienced Process Engineer, Engineering Technician or recent Engineering/Science graduate looking to develop a career within semiconductor manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for wafer fab process and manufacturing issues during shift.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues to support production.
• Ensure timely release of manufacturing material and appropriate management of process holds.
• Coordinate tool requalification following maintenance activities.
• Support the investigation and triage of scrap, process deviations and near-miss events.
• Raise and manage process deviations (DEVs) for out-of-specification events and non-standard manufacturing activity.
• Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing teams.
• Create and maintain measurement macros for new products and measurement equipment.
• Provide clear written shift handovers, documenting outstanding issues and required actions.
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams to maintain production flow and quality.

Requirements

• HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Science, Semiconductor Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience at Technician/Senior Operator level.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, particularly during out-of-hours shifts.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment and wearing cleanroom clothing.
• A flexible, reliable and professional approach to work.

Desirable Experience

• Semiconductor / wafer fabrication / cleanroom manufacturing experience.
• Experience with computer-controlled semiconductor processing equipment.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), particularly PROMIS.
• Understanding of Six Sigma / continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience working within a high-volume, high-technology manufacturing environment.
