Job summary

InPost is at the heart of the UK's logistics network, delivering parcels for major brands. We are growing and seeking a Warehouse Shift Manager to lead day-to-day operations at our Wednesbury hub.

You will manage a team, drive efficiency, and ensure safety and timely deliveries, with a focus on meeting deadlines and quality standards. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on logistics experience who can motivate staff and optimise processes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in a fast-paced distribution or logistics environment.
• Proven success in people management with ability to motivate teams.
• Experience driving and exceeding operational KPIs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable with computer systems and software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a warehouse team to meet productivity targets and deadlines.
• Forecast staff requirements and manage rosters and annual leave.
• Ensure labelling, sortation, and overall warehouse KPIs meet quality standards.
• Provide a comprehensive hand-over report to the next Shift Manager.
• Deliver inductions and ongoing training for new staff and contractors.
• Maintain safety through Health & Safety training and safe work practices.

We're growing rapidly and looking for a motivated Warehouse Shift Manager to help us continue our success in our of our busy Sort Centres! In this key role, you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our warehouse, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Your experience in people management will help us meet deadlines, maintain quality standards, and drive operational efficiency. • Lead with Passion: Manage and motivate your team to ensure productivity targets are met and customer deadlines are achieved.
• Forecast and Plan: Assist in the planning and forecasting of staff requirements, including rota management and annual leave planning to ensure we're always fully staffed and ready to go.
• Optimise Operations: Ensure all labelling, sortation, and warehouse team productivity targets are achieved, maintaining quality standards at all times.
• Ensure Smooth Handover: Provide a comprehensive 'hand-over report' to the oncoming Shift Manager to maintain seamless operations.
• Create a Winning Team Culture: Ensure all new staff receive a thorough induction, and provide continuous training to both staff and contractors, enabling them to perform their roles effectively, efficiently, and safely.
• Champion Safety: Make sure that all staff have completed the necessary Health & Safety training, ensuring a safe work environment for everyone.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced Distribution or Logistics environment, demonstrating a strong understanding of operational dynamics.
• Proven success in effective people management, with a track record of motivating teams to achieve outstanding results.
• Demonstrated experience in driving and surpassing growing operational KPIs, consistently delivering measurable improvements.
• A calm, focused approach to prioritising daily tasks, thriving under pressure while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
• Strong problem‑solving skills grounded in practical, common‑sense decision‑making.
• Proficient computer skills, comfortable navigating essential software and systems.
• Able to confidently meet strict deadlines, paired with excellent communication skills to engage and inspire teams.
