Job summary

Bimplus is seeking a Shift Manager to oversee building services on a prestigious banking data centre contract in Hounslow. You will lead day-to-day shift operations, manage Planned Preventative Maintenance and Reactive tasks, and drive the department's strategy with a focus on KPI delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain records for Health & Safety, Building Compliance and Quality Assurance.
  • Coordinate sub-contractors and enforce safety and quality on site.
  • Operate Permit to Work system in line with procedures and client requirements.
  • Monitor plant conditions via BMS/Ignition to maintain acceptable environments.
  • Prepare method statements and risk assessments for tasks.
  • Conduct weekly timesheets and oversee shift engineers' performance.

Job description

My client is a global leading provider in facilities management, and they are looking for a Shift Manager to oversee the building services for one of their prestigious critical banking data centre contracts, located in Hounslow. The Shift Manager will be expected to have excellent understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure (Electrical, Mechanical, and DC specific infrastructure).

They will be responsible for the day to day operation of the shift carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Reactive works to Building Services Systems within a contracted site. Additional responsibility includes direct contribution to the development and successful operation of the Managed Services function, working with colleagues to develop and implement departmental strategy, objectives and improvement processes. To control and implement deliverables against all allocated Customer Specific Service Level and KPI Agreements.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance & Reactive maintenance tasks are carried out for all of the site related assets, these will be conducted through the Planned Preventative Maintenance System.
  • Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept pertaining to Health & Safety, Building Compliance and Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer sub-contractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.
  • To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with CBRE Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements (or approved client system).
  • Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times.
  • Escalate any incidents or concerns on site to your Engineering Manager as per agreed site escalation procedure.
  • Overview the buildings environmental conditions using the BMS / Ignition System and utilise same to maintain acceptable internal conditions.
  • Ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are completed in the form of job sheets.
  • Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared, reviewed and utilised for all tasks (PPM’s and reactive) carried out to ensure safe working practices.
  • Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance or emergency repairs. Ensure method statements and risk assessments are issued and adhered to.
  • Weekly timesheets to be completed and signed
  • Ensure the provision of a Safe & Healthy working environment.
  • Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by local management.
  • Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate, including the utilisation of the shift engineers to ensure the task is suitably completed.
  • To undertake annual performance reviews of your shift engineers.
  • To ensure the shift engineers are undertaking work tasks as directed and with suitable H&S awareness/implementation.
  • Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI’s/SLA’s is undertaken.
  • Ensure the Computer Based Maintenance system, e.g. SI is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
  • Ensure Incidents are recorded using the business systems provided within the SLA’s required by the contract
  • Ensure that any issues raised during the shift are recorded and that the handover updates are issued prior to leaving site.
Person Specification
  • Electrical or Mechanical qualifications from a recognised institution (NVQ or C&Gs)
  • Previous experience in Data Centre or Critical Environment operations.
  • Experience in a management role
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst remaining calm, clear thinking and able to deliver the required services to the client within given time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
  • Has operational excellence as a core value.
  • Have very good IT and report writing skills
