Shift Manager – Critical Data Centre Operations | Slough

We are recruiting for a Shift Manager to oversee operations within a mission‑critical data centre in Slough. This role is ideal for a strong leader with a technical background who thrives in a fast‑paced, 24/7 environment and is committed to maintaining uptime and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage shift teams to ensure the continuous operation of critical infrastructure
• Act as the primary point of contact during your shift for all operational and technical matters
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities across electrical and mechanical systems
• Respond to incidents, faults, and alarms, ensuring swift resolution and escalation where required
• Ensure compliance with all site procedures, SLAs, and health & safety standards
• Authorise and manage safe systems of work (PTW, RAMS, LOTO)
• Coordinate subcontractors and specialist vendors on‑site
• Maintain accurate shift logs, reports, and incident records (CMMS/BMS)
• Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Shift Manager or similar leadership role within a critical environment (data centres, healthcare, financial services, etc.)
• Strong technical knowledge of critical systems (HV/LV, UPS, generators, cooling systems, BMS)
• Experience managing teams in a shift‑based, 24/7 environment
• Excellent decision‑making and problem‑solving skills under pressure
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Familiarity with compliance procedures and operational best practices
