Job summary

Cbw Staffing Solutions in Central London is recruiting an experienced Shift Leader for a premium FM service provider. The role involves leading an on-site engineering team, managing PPM and reactive tasks, and performing hands-on electrical or mechanical maintenance to ensure uptime.

The ideal candidate is fully qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with an HV Authorised Person qualification and has prior experience in critical environments such as data centres or large office

Qualifications

• Fully qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• HV Authorised Person qualification (essential).
• Experience in critical environments (data centres, banking, healthcare or similar).
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support the on-site shift engineering team.
• Ensure all PPM and reactive maintenance tasks are completed using the CAFM system.
• Carry out hands-on electrical and/or mechanical maintenance when required.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on plant and equipment, minimising downtime.
• Monitor the quality of maintenance activities, documentation and housekeeping standards.
• Manage spare parts and ensure stock levels are maintained.
• Maintain maintenance records, reports and RAMS.
• Support the delivery of a safe, compliant building environment.
• Act as HV Authorised Person and carry out switching operations.

Shift Leader – FM Service Provider – St Pauls, Central London - Up to £60,000 per annum

CBW is currently recruiting an experienced Shift Leader to join a prestigious commercial building in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer to work within a modern, high-specification environment, delivering first-class building maintenance across a premium mixed-use development occupied by various commercial tenants.

Hours of Work

Continental Shift Pattern – Days & Nights (7 on, 7 off rotation)

Key Duties

• Lead, motivate and support the on-site shift engineering team.
• Ensure all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks are completed efficiently using the site's CAFM system.
• Carry out hands-on electrical and/or mechanical maintenance when required.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on plant and equipment, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.
• Monitor the quality of maintenance activities, documentation and housekeeping standards across the site.
• Manage spare parts and ensure critical stock levels are maintained.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and job documentation.
• Prepare, review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure safe systems of work.
• Support the delivery of a safe, compliant and high-performing building environment.
• Act as the site's HV Authorised Person, carrying out switching operations and ensuring compliance with all electrical safety procedures.

Requirements

• Fully qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Current HV Authorised Person (AP) qualification (essential).
• Previous experience working in a critical environment such as commercial offices, banking, data centres, healthcare, or other high-profile facilities.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical building services.
• Experience with critical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers and power distribution.
• Previous experience leading an engineering shift team within a critical or large commercial environment.
• Excellent fault-finding, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional engineering standards.
