Job Title: Shift Maintenance Technician

Location: London

Contract: Office-based

Salary: £50K-£55K Per Annum, basic plus overtime

My client is seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Maintenance Technician to join their on-site engineering team operating on a continental shift pattern within a fast-paced, technically demanding commercial facility. This role involves hands-on responsibility for a wide range of electrical, mechanical, pressure systems, and low-voltage (LV) installations, ensuring the site operates safely, compliantly, and efficiently. You will be part of a skilled shift team providing 24/7 coverage for key engineering systems, delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive support.

Responsibilities:

1. Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on all LV systems, including lighting, power distribution, switchgear, and control panels.
2. Perform electrical fault-finding, testing, and isolations in accordance with BS7671 (18th Edition) and site standards.
3. Inspect and maintain UPS, emergency lighting, fire alarm panels, and BMS interfaces.
4. Support minor installation works and component upgrades.
5. Maintain and repair pumps, motors, AHUs, FCUs, valves, and pipework systems.
6. Assist with the operation and maintenance of boilers, cooling towers, and HVAC infrastructure.
7. Support water treatment tasks including chlorination, flushing, and temperature checks.
8. Carry out routine pressure vessel and pressure system checks in line with PUWER and PSSR regulations.
9. Conduct regular plant checks and record logs on electrical panels, pressure systems, compressors, and mechanical assets.
10. Ensure all works comply with H&S, RAMS, and permit-to-work systems.
11. Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance documentation and asset records.
12. Assist in emergency response procedures and plant failure recovery.

Requirements:

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 8th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (essential)
• Experience with PPM/reactive maintenance in a commercial or critical environment
• Knowledge of LV systems, mechanical plant, HVAC, and pressure systems
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and CAFM systems

Desirable:

• City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent (Testing & Inspection)
• Steam or pressure systems certification
