Shift Maintenance Engineer - Belfast - Salary £45,300 (36 Hour Week)

They regularly invest in excellent processes and modern equipment, have a zero-waste policy, and supply some of the biggest clients in their industry. In terms of scale, they are the largest suppliers in this field in the UK and are working for top clients.

Your New Role

As a Shift Maintenance Technician, you will report to the Maintenance Manager and ensure all facilities are maintained in optimal condition to meet safety, efficiency, and reliability standards. Your responsibilities include undertaking planned and reactive maintenance tasks as part of a maintenance team in a dynamic environment.

Your core duties will include:

  1. Completing planned repairs and preventative maintenance using the computerized Maintenance Monitoring system to prevent breakdowns and ensure minimal disruption to production.
  2. Ensuring maintenance work backlogs are actively cleared, including overtime if necessary.
  3. Sourcing, identifying, and ordering spare parts to minimize downtime.
  4. Monitoring energy usage, especially during machine idling, to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint.
  5. Supervising contractors to ensure health and safety compliance.
  6. Training stakeholders on Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance, and information systems.
  7. Maintaining records for tests, fire safety equipment, alarms, and other safety-related inspections.
  8. Traveling to multi-site facilities as required for maintenance tasks.
  9. Carrying out all work in compliance with health, safety, and statutory regulations.
  10. Monitoring internal health and safety aspects and suggesting improvements.
  11. Reporting non-compliance and safety incidents promptly.
  12. Maintaining PPE and safety equipment, reporting faults.
  13. Storing and inspecting safety harnesses for heights.
  14. Communicating major or recurring issues for prompt resolution.

Role accountabilities include undertaking additional duties as required and ensuring personal and team safety, health, and environmental standards are maintained.

What You'll Need To Succeed

We seek candidates with multi-skilled maintenance experience, ideally in a production environment. You must be time-served electrically or mechanically with at least 3 years post-apprenticeship experience in a similar role.

What You'll Get In Return

A 36-hour week with a salary of £45,300, paid at an overtime rate of time and a half. The shift pattern over 5 weeks includes 2 weeks off, extending your annual leave. The company offers a generous sick pay scheme to support you.
