MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Location: Bromborough (Merseyside)

Type of role: Permanent

Salary: GBP35,000-GBP40,000/annum (depends on experience)

Working hours: Monday-Friday (40hrs/week)

1st week 06:00-14:00, 2nd week 14:00-22:00

Job Purpose
The Engineer will report directly to the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager on site. They will be accountable for the completion of work as set by the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager, including ensuring that the work is completed in a quality and timely manner. They will provide support in relation to all maintenance tasks and projects being undertaken, including day to day breakdown, PPM, equipment updates, new installations, and building/infrastructure upgrades. The position requires shift work with the pattern being plant specific and on-call work to provide cover for emergency breakdowns and shutdown periods.

Key Responsibilities

1. To ensure all PPM activities are completed on time as required, feeding back information to the Senior Engineer to improve the PPM system and activities.
2. To work closely with the Engineer on the opposite shift to ensure all handover of ongoing activities is carried out every day, and sharing all other information and practices as required.
3. To provide knowledge and input into continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities. Work with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to identify long running problems and suitable solutions.
4. To ensure that as part of the Engineering team, always look to improve equipment performance, reliability, and running costs for replacement parts and consumables.
5. To undertake repairs to equipment in a safe and timely manner ensuring that Production is constantly updated on progress.
6. To undertake remedial engineering works to equipment or site as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
7. To ensure any risks of safety or failure of equipment or site are communicated to the Manager.
8. To work with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to ensure that contractors are working safely on site and adhering to site Health and Safety rules and procedures.
9. To ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with the Site Health and Safety instructions and the SSG Health and Safety manual, as well as in accordance with relevant engineering standards.
10. To report any incidents, accidents and near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies.
11. To ensure that equipment provided for the protection of health and safety is maintained and used appropriately, and in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
12. To ensure that safe systems of work and best practice procedures are adhered to.
13. To ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained.
14. To ensure the Company s disciplines, rules and standards are maintained.
15. To ensure the company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency.
16. To maintain excellent communication between Production staff and co-workers.
17. To maintain knowledge of all spare parts on site for plant.
18. To work within the procedures and standards as determined by the company s written standards.
