Role Description:

You will work as part of the team to aid in the efficient running of the site via engineering activities.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending breakdowns.
  • Planned maintenance.
  • Reactive maintenance.
  • General works.
  • Contribute to equipment and process improvements.
  • Carry out personal projects to improve efficiency and reliability of the equipment.
  • Documents your works on CMMS system.
You will ensure that all standards of housekeeping are maintained in line with the company's engineering procedures, Quality System, and Health & Safety procedures.

Role Specifics:

Operational Engineering

During your shift carry out engineering tasks and work with the production team to plan engineering activities on the shift. Attend breakdowns and carry out fault finding to fix the issue. Establish the root cause and implement a fix first time mentality. Document all engineering tasks carried out during the shift and agree downtime with the shift supervisor. Carry out and document the engineering handover at the start and end of the shift. Manage your workload on the CMMS system to complete your tasks within the specified timeframe. Provide support to other Engineers during major breakdowns or where several operational engineering priorities exist. Provide cover for Engineers where necessary during holidays/sickness absence.

Planned Preventative Maintenance
To carry out planned preventative maintenance activities on machinery and equipment in line with the scheduled plan, ensuring that equipment is fit for purpose on a shift / daily basis and that associated paperwork is updated and tracked, as per PPM schedules to aid an efficient Maintenance Plan. Report all deficiencies to the Engineering Manager team.

Management of Engineering and Site Systems

Ensure that all housekeeping standards are maintained daily in the workplace and that all activities comply with relevant Health & Safety and on-site procedures.
Complete work-based risk assessments as and when required.

Colleague Management and Development

Assist production with machine training, to ensure that all operatives including new starter understand the basics running efficiencies of machines. Support the relevant departments to ensure that SOPs are in place and followed according to the procedure.

Projects

Work with the Engineering Manager to continually improve operations, to drive improvements in quality, cost, and safety. Actively review and seek continuous improvement processes to reduce costs, aid efficiency, improve reliability and ensuring that all amendments are in line with company and health & safety procedures. As and when required support all Major or ad-hoc engineering projects onsite.

Skills:

  • To ensure all written and online documentation is completed correctly and in a timely manner according to company polices.
  • Adhering to process including good timekeeping, return to work forms, absence, and disciplinary procedures, to ensure good production efficiencies and productivity.
  • Develop relationships with all departments to enhance communication across teams and deliver great customer service.
  • Promote good working practices.

Desired:

  • At least 5 years engineering experience within fast paced FMCG environment (preferably food)
  • HNC as minimum or Relevant engineering qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in engineering or equivalent (Preferably in electrical maintenance)
  • Electrical or Multiskilled with an Electrical bias
Shift Pattern:

Two week rotating shift pattern of days (6am - 2pm), nights (10pm - 6am) and twilights (2pm- 10pm)
