  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety policy and procedures.
  • Support with unforeseen manning issues.
  • Manage KPI including scrap and WIP.
  • Maintain and improve 5S.

Shift Leader Shift Pattern: Rotations (06:30 – 14:30 / 14:30 – 22:30)

Department: Production

Job Purpose: To lead and oversee all production activities on the shop floor during assigned shifts, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive working environment. Act as the primary point of contact for employees, promoting a culture of safety and accountability. Support in managing key aspects of production including Health & Safety, staffing, work-in-progress, scrap control, and coordination of support functions. Collaborate closely with the Resourcing Team to ensure effective shift handovers and with Value Stream Leads to communicate updates on production performance, equipment issues, and any other issues.

  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety policy and procedures.
  • Support with unforeseen manning issues
  • Support Resourcing with Absence management as and when required
  • KPI management (including scrap and WIP).
  • Maintain and improve 5S.
  • Support with organisation of on shift training where required
  • Liaising with support teams.
  • Cover site management on backshift.

Experience

  • Working in relevant production manufacturing area.
  • Experience in leading or managing a cross-functional team
  • Experience with continuous improvement
  • Exposure to Team Leadership

Skills

  • Clear communication, both written & verbal
  • Working with problem solving and trouble – shooting techniques.
  • Ability to use initiative.
  • Computer literate (including SAP)
  • Analytical skills and data driven
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate, influence, and constructive challenge

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English
  • Trained in Spill Control (desirable)

  • Effective production management to ensure the safety of people, quality and output requirements are achieved.
  • Continuous improvement of the shop floor.
  • Defining sharing and implementing best practice.
