Job description

This position ensures all engineering activities meet defined standards and comply with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) regulations.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation related to all electrical systems and PPM tasks, while ensuring adherence to on-site Quality Assurance protocols.

In addition to planned maintenance, the Shift Leader will respond promptly and effectively to reactive maintenance issues and help desk requests, providing timely solutions to electrical-related faults.

You will also conduct technical surveys, reporting findings to the Engineering Shift Manager (ESM), and prepare material costings for minor works as required.

This is a hands-on, proactive role requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all M&E assets are maintained for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and ISO 9001 standards at all times.
  • Resolve reactive maintenance and help desk issues quickly to minimise disruption.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and schedules.
  • Support continuous improvement through training and performance assessments.
  • Foster effective team communication and smooth shift handovers.
  • Attend meetings and supervise trades to ensure seamless operations.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • Electrical apprenticeship with City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including fault diagnosis and rectification.
  • Experience with PPM, electrical installation, testing, and inspection.
  • Familiarity with BMS and working in business-critical, multi-site banking environments.
  • Competent with permits to work (AP Electrical – HV) and UPS systems.
  • PASMA/IPAF certified.
