Job summary

Manthorpe Building Products, part of Genuit Group, is seeking a Deputy Shift Lead to help run the production shop floor safely and efficiently. You will deputise for the Shift Lead, guide the team, coordinate resources and ensure timely, quality output.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Good communication and people skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative.
• Willingness to learn new skills and develop knowledge.
• Ability to carry out visual and dimensional quality checks.
• Experience or knowledge of safe use of overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
• Fire Marshal and First Aid training.
• Understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• IOSH qualification or willingness to work towards one.

Responsibilities

• Support and guide team members in line with policies and procedures.
• Deputise for the Shift Lead and take responsibility for the shift when required.
• Provide clear day‑to‑day direction to the production team.
• Coordinate labour and resources to meet production needs.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping on the shop floor.
• Monitor production performance and ensure on‑time output.
• Monitor product quality to ensure standards are met.
• Ensure materials are available to sustain production output.
• Communicate issues and priorities to management.
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain health and safety standards.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
