Job summary

Arriva TrainCare in Cambridge is seeking a Shift Fitter – Light Maintenance to perform maintenance and overhaul work on rail vehicles against approved standards. The role operates nights on a 4 on/4 off pattern, averaging 37 hours per week, reporting to the Light Maintenance Team Leader.

The ideal candidate will have an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent, with rail traction experience and a solid understanding of drawings, safety, and quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Rail traction/rolling stock experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and overhaul work as allocated by the Team Leader.
  • Operate (drive) rail vehicles within depot limits as instructed.
  • Follow safety, quality, and environmental procedures at all times.
  • Complete maintenance records and worksheets accurately and promptly.
  • Attend technical, quality and safety briefings and act on actions.
