Job summary

Huawei is seeking a technically skilled technician to join the Epitaxy team in Ipswich. The role involves supporting low pressure MOCVD reactors, material characterization, and data entry in MES.

You will work with engineers and technicians in cleanrooms and laboratories on a 12-month contract with potential extension based on project needs. Preferred candidates will have an HNC in a relevant subject and experience in MOVPE epitaxy or similar systems, plus semiconductor fab exposure.

Qualifications

• Experience in semiconductor material characterization and data handling.
• Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Willing to operate in a cleanroom environment and use PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Characterize semiconductor material using standard tools and procedures.
• Input data into MES to maintain process flow.
• Operate MOCVD reactors for loading/unloading InP substrates.
• Assist with maintenance tasks on MOCVD reactors and handle associated safety gear.
• Handle chemicals for characterization and clean small reactor parts.
• Record data accurately and hand over work to colleagues.
• Apply 5S practices and follow Huawei quality and safety policies.
• Manage consumables and assist engineers with new process documentation.
• Work with engineers to document improvements and new processes.

Job description

This role is part of the Epitaxy team which requires flexible cross boundary working. This team has the role of supporting the III-V product development and production teams in meeting customer requirements, working with a team of technicians and engineers in cleanrooms and laboratories. Shift worker will support running of low pressure MOCVD reactors and the characterization of the material created. This is a 12-month contract role, with the potential for extension subject to project requirements.,

• Characterization of semiconductor material using appropriate tools (on the job training provided).
• Use the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to input data as instructed by engineer and/or documentation in order to maintain the process flow.
• Basic operation of one or more MOCVD reactors - (un)loading InP substrates and transferring product to characterization area.
• Support maintenance tasks on the MOCVD reactors, this will require use of breathing apparatus.
• Use of chemicals for some characterization procedures and cleaning of small reactor parts.
• Provide effective handover to other technicians and engineers.
• Actively undertake 5S.
• Work in accordance with the Huawei quality and safety policies.
• Taking ownership of consumable parts management.
• Working with engineers to develop and document new processes effectively.
• Experience in running material/product assessment/evaluation tools and accurately recording data.
• Ability to follow detailed written and/or verbal instructions.
• Proven ability to take accurate notes relating to the processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Ability to use web-based or bespoke software tools on PC.
• Willing to shave clean for maintenance days.

Preferred

• HNC in a relevant subject.
• Confident working safely with chemicals.
• Experience in MOVPE epitaxy growth systems or similar systems.
• Experience in working within a semiconductor fab.
