Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Whitehaven is seeking an experienced electrician to join our engineering team. You will safely perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment, ensuring machine efficiency and uptime while following site policies.

The role requires IET Wiring Regs/2391 qualifications, with strong focus on safety, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration. We offer training, competitive pay, benefits, and flexible working options.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance safely and on time.
• Comply with legal and site policies for maintenance and machine settings.
• Work in an engineering team to maximise machine efficiency, reducing downtime and setup time.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a clean as-you-go approach.
• Set and calibrate tooling for production safely and promptly.
• Liaise with operators to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Be the first point of contact for machinery breakdowns on your shift.
• Develop cross-functional mechanical and electrical skills.

Overview

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our team at our Whitehaven site. We are on the lookout for an electrician to join our team of engineers. The successful candidate will safely execute planned, preventative, and reactive engineering tasks in a timely manner. Comply to all legal and local policies & guidance relating to engineering and maintenance. Working proactively as part of an engineering team to ensure maximum machine efficiency (reduce downtime and set-up time).

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safe execution of planned, preventative, and reactive engineering tasks in a timely manner.
• Comply to all legal and local policies & guidance relating to maintenance and machine setting.
• Working proactively as part of an engineering team to ensure maximum machine efficiency (reduce downtime and set-up time)
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records.
• Maintaining good housekeeping standards and a clean as you go policy.
• Setting and calibration of machine tooling ready for production in a safe and timely manner.
• Liaising with production operators to find root causes and appropriate corrective actions.
• Being the first point of contact for all machinery break downs on your assigned shift.
• Developing cross functional skills (mechanical and electrical)
