Job summary

Alpro in Kettering is seeking an experienced Electrical Bias Shift Engineer to join our Maintenance & Engineering team. You will maintain and improve world-class production equipment on a 24/7 operation, driving reliability, safety and continuous improvement across the site.

The role requires time-served experience, formal engineering qualifications, and strong PLC/electrical fault-finding skills. You will work in a fast-paced FMCG environment and utilise SAP for maintenance records.

Qualifications

• Time-served maintenance engineer with electrical bias.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Experience with PLCs, motors, drives, sensors and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM).
• Respond to breakdowns and restore production safely and quickly.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Fault find on PLC-controlled equipment, drives, motors and sensors.
• Support continuous improvement projects and root-cause analysis.

About The Job

Are you an experienced Electrical Bias Engineer looking to work with advanced manufacturing technology in a fast-paced and highly automated environment?

Alpro is seeking a skilled Electrical Bias Shift Engineer to join our Maintenance & Engineering team at our Kettering manufacturing site. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving world-class production equipment while supporting the manufacture of market-leading plant-based food and drink products.

Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, maximising production performance, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
• Responding to equipment breakdowns and restoring production quickly and safely.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment, drives, motors, sensors, instrumentation, and automated production lines.
• Supporting continuous improvement projects and root cause analysis activities.
• Assisting with equipment modifications and installation projects
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and work orders through SAP.
• Promoting and maintaining high standards of safety, food safety, housekeeping, and engineering excellence.
• Supporting the optimisation of automation and control systems across the site.

About You

What We're Looking For:

• Time-served and qualified maintenance engineer.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification.

• Strong electrical fault-finding experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of industrial control systems, motors, drives, sensors, and electrical distribution systems.
• Experience working on PLC-controlled production equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT literacy, including experience using maintenance management systems.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Desirable:

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Experience within Food Manufacturing, FMCG, Beverage, Packaging, or Process Industries.
• Knowledge of Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar PLC platforms.
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• SAP maintenance system experience.
• . Multi-skilled engineering capability.

Your Shift Pattern:

This role operates on a Panama Shift Pattern, providing engineering support across our 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Shift Times:

Days: 06:00 to 18:00
Nights: 18:00 to 06:00

This pattern provides a balance of day and night working, along with regular extended periods off throughout the year.
