Job description

Are you a skilled and experienced engineer looking for your next challenge in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment? My client is on the lookout for a Shift Engineer to join a dynamic Engineering team.

As a Shift Engineer, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the factory. You'll be responsible for resolving breakdowns, delivering maintenance KPIs, and driving continuous improvement in engineering practices and site performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard reactive and proactive maintenance across the entire site
  • Attend to breakdowns swiftly to minimise downtime of machinery and equipment
  • Conduct repairs during production, independently or as part of a team
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) with a proactive mindset
  • Support improvements in machinery performance and site efficiency
  • Help achieve KPIs including plant uptime, maintenance performance, and OEE
  • Manage engineering time and downtime effectively
  • Maintain compliance with Health & Safety and legal standards

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience following a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Formal engineering qualifications (ONC minimum, NVQ3 preferred)
  • Solid knowledge in both electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Industry experience in Food, FMCG, or Packaging environments
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced maintenance environment
