Coveris Gainsborough is seeking a Shift Engineer to join an experienced engineering team in Lincolnshire. The role focuses on maintaining production facilities, preventing downtime and supporting multiple departments to meet customer demands.

You will work within a CI-driven environment, embrace continuous improvement, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives while adhering to health and safety policies and site hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain maximum machine availability and respond to faults quickly.
• Work with Engineering Manager to support the maintenance department.
• Lead or participate in projects to improve efficiency and cost savings.
• Ensure area is clean and meets hygiene policies and standards.
• Liaise with external contractors and operations teams to plan maintenance.

Shift Engineer

Coveris Gainsborough is a manufacturing facility in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, UK, that produces flexible packaging solutions.

This is a stable and long-term opportunity within a well-established engineering team that plays a crucial role in supporting the wider business. As part of our Engineering Department, you'll work alongside an experienced and close-knit team where collaboration, knowledge sharing and mutual support are a key part of everyday life.

Engineering is at the heart of our operation, ensuring our production facilities run safely, efficiently, and reliably. Your work will have a direct impact on the success of the site, supporting multiple departments and helping to deliver for our customers.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Work with the Engineering Manager to ensure a smooth and effective maintenance department.
• Always ensure maximum machine availability.
• React to faults and breakdowns as priority.
• Work in line with a PPM Programme.
• Work within a dedicated budget.
• Liaise with external contractors.
• Record and update key engineering data.
• Embed the health and safety culture throughout the department.
• Liaise with operations team regarding maintenance plan and issues.
• Lead or participate in various projects considering current issues/initiatives as a means of improving overall business efficiency.
• Embrace the site continual improvementstrategy and partake in projectsas requested.
• Meet with Engineeringand OperationsManagementto monitor progress
• Following maintenance work ensure the area affected is left in a clean and tidy state, in line with company hygiene policies.
• Work in accordance to the company’s health and safety policy at all times.
• Ensure effective shift handover
• Source cost effective suppliers of machine parts to assist in cost-saving.
• Carry out Project work as and when required

Person specification -Who you need to be

• Good attendance and timekeeping
• Ability to multi-skill between electrical and mechanical tasks
• Knowledge of the flexible packaging industry would be an advantage
• Flexibility in their approach
• Good organisational and self-motivational skills
• Ability to work on own initiative without supervision
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages would be an advantage
• Willingness to participate in CI, 5S and lean manufacturing techniques and practises
