Job summary

Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill is seeking a proactive Shift Engineer to maintain hotel plant, systems, and equipment in a busy luxury setting. You will respond to guest-related engineering requests, perform routine and preventive maintenance, and ensure health and safety compliance across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC installations.

The role requires hands-on technical skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to hotel plant, equipment, and building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related engineering issues to minimize disruption.
• Monitor and maintain electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems for safe operation.
• Identify faults and ensure equipment compliance with health and safety standards.
• Support emergency procedures including fire alarms and lift entrapment responses.
• Complete planned preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and maintain high standards.
• Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless guest experience.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report significant issues.

Duties and responsibilities related to the Shift Engineer role

• Carry out routine
  maintenance, inspections, and repairs to hotel plant, equipment, and building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related engineering issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Monitor and maintain the safe and efficient operation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Assist in identifying and resolving faults, ensuring all equipment remains compliant with health and safety standards.
• Support emergency procedures, including fire alarm responses and lift entrapment situations in line with hotel procedures.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks to help maintain the hotel's high standards and reduce equipment downtime.
• Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and support operational needs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report any significant issues or repair requirements to the Engineering management team.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and reliable individual with
previous engineering, maintenance, or building services experience, ideally gained within a hotel, hospitality, or similar customer-focused environment. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety practices, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to respond calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced setting. A hands-on approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences are essential. Relevant engineering qualifications or certifications would be advantageous.
