Job Description:

Be Part of the Quantum Revolution.

At Quantinuum, we are accelerating quantum computing and use its power to positively transform the world.

The Strategic Business Development and Sales Manager will be responsible for leading large-scale, complex quantum computing engagements for enterprise, government, and academic sector clients. This includes defining technical strategies, overseeing the delivery of impactful quantum solutions, and ensuring alignment between client needs and Quantinuum’s broader technology roadmap. Fluency in both Japanese and English is essential to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across technical and organizational boundaries.

You will work closely with stakeholders in high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), and other domains requiring a strong foundation in quantum mechanics. The role requires the ability to bridge scientific depth with commercial relevance and to contribute to the strategic direction of the organization’s quantum initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive technical sales efforts by identifying and engaging prospective customers in key domains such as high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum-enhanced simulation
  • Lead the qualification, development, and closure of strategic customer opportunities
  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline to support hardware sales (HaaS), from early engagement through to successful closure
  • Lead the development of customized proposals, solution briefs, and proof-of-concept plans in coordination with internal product, marketing, and research teams
  • Conduct high-impact customer meetings, executive briefings, and technical presentations tailored to both scientific and business audience
  • Drive and maintain long-term relationships with strategic partners in academia, government, and industry
  • Represent Quantinuum at major industry conferences, technical forums, and public events, including presenting thought leadership when appropriate
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure seamless communication between customers and internal stakeholders (e.g., product, ecosystem, legal, or research teams), adjusting to the technical and strategic needs of each engagement
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: 8+ years in business development and sales in IT, electronics solution and services to large enterprises and public sectors.
  • Strong communication skills in both Japanese and English
  • Education: Master’s degree or PhD in quantum computing, physics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
We Value:
  • We value candidates who bring experience or expertise in the following areas, which can enhance effectiveness in this role:
  • Familiarity with quantum computing platforms such as TKET, Qiskit, or other quantum programming frameworks
  • Experience working with or selling to government agencies, national laboratories, or public-sector research institutions, particularly in Japan
  • Strong understanding of high-performance computing environments, cloud-based architectures, or hybrid quantum-classical workflows
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications, scientific simulation, or industrial R&D processes
  • Excellent technical communication skills, including public speaking, proposal writing, and stakeholder presentations in both Japanese and English
  • Prior experience leading proofs-of-concept, technical workshops, or cross-functional coordination involving product, R&D, and business teams
Location: Tokyo, Japan
